Your new go-to Izakaya-style tapas bar, Izakaya Rin, is now open for pick-up at Springlake! We caught up with owner Rebecca Kong to find out more about how she’s bringing a modern Japanese experience to the lakeside.

Tell us a little about yourself and the business at Springlake. Why do you love what you do?

I have been in this industry for fifteen years – I love food, and I love people. I moved into Caroline Springs in 2012 and opened Izumi [a Japanese eatery at the Central Shopping Centre in Caroline Springs] in 2013. We love the people here and wish to continue to provide nice food for them.

When customers come to your business, what can they expect?

Our cool interior design will take you back to Japan. We have a beautiful lakefront dining experience that you can’t find anywhere else in the western suburbs. Our food is a premium level, with a wide range of Japanese drinks, beers, sake, and plum wines to accompany it.

What are some of your favourite items on the menu that customers should try?

We offer fresh sushi sashimi and a whole range of other tapas items. Our wagyu beef ranks 9+ on the Australian wagyu marbling scale, so you know it’s tender and has the creamiest of textures. There’s so many excellent options to enjoy while catching up with friends.

Why are you excited to open in Caroline Springs?

I have been running Izumi in Caroline Springs for nine years, where we have developed a big customer base who love our Japanese food. We can’t wait to share Izakaya Rin with them all. Caroline Springs is also a growing area, and we believe Izakaya Rin will be the perfect place to serve the community in the future.
